Wild Juniper was founded late in 2023 after a passionate discussion between Head Ginista and Johannesburg Distilling Company's Head of Distilling.

As the gin and tonics flowed, so did the dreams of bringing JoDiCo's multi-award winning gins to England.

Six months (and mountains of paperwork, red-tape, licensing and administration) later, the first shipment of these fantastic (if we say so ourselves) gins landed in the UK - much to the delight of a number of South African expats, UK gin lovers and a number of fine, upmarket establishments.

A large part of the appeal lies in the meticulous, crafty nature pursued by JoDiCo in the development of its products.

Where most distilleries simply turn neutral alcohol from a mass supplier into products through adding a few botanicals, JoDiCo stands apart from its competitors in that the vast majority of its spirits are built from scratch, using a foundation of high-grade molasses, water and a super-secret blend of French yeasts and nutrients.

This process isn't about cost savings. In fact, it's far more difficult and expensive than using bought-in neutral alcohol. When you taste our spirits however, you'll understand why we've made this choice. The most noticeable difference is mouthfeel which coats the palate and lingers well after the first sip. A subtle caramel, smokiness also permeates our spirits and places us in a category of our own.
